Waterproof Magnetostrictive Level Gauge

Waterproof magnetostrictive level gauges accurately measure liquid levels in tanks, vessels, and reservoirs, even in wet, humid, or washdown conditions. They use a magnetostrictive wire and a float with a permanent magnet. A current pulse travels along the wire, interacts with the float's magnetic field, and creates a torsion wave. The gauge measures the pulse's travel time and converts it into a precise level reading. Because the sensing element is sealed, it performs reliably outdoors and in damp industrial areas.

The waterproof design typically combines a stainless steel housing, sealed electronics, and an IP67 or IP68 enclosure. This protects sensitive components from rain, condensation, temporary immersion, and aggressive cleaning. Many models use corrosion-resistant wetted parts, such as 316L stainless steel, PTFE, or PVDF, making them suitable for chemical, water treatment, food, and petrochemical applications. Compared with mechanical floats or ultrasonic sensors, these gauges offer high accuracy, stable output, and low maintenance. They are ideal for tanks with foam, vapor, turbulence, or changing temperatures.

Installation is simple. The gauge mounts from the tank top, and the float moves with the liquid surface. Output options include 4-20 mA, HART, Modbus, and RS485. Regular inspection of the float, seals, and wiring helps ensure long service life. With sealing and magnetostrictive sensing, these gauges support liquid monitoring, inventory control, and process automation.
