For research, metrology, or semiconductor equipment, high-resolution sensors are often necessary. A cheaper sensor can create downtime, scrap, and replacement costs if it fails early or lacks needed precision. In short, a linear displacement sensor can cost from about $20 to several thousand dollars. The right price depends on range, accuracy, output, environment, and support.
