High-temperature magnetostrictive displacement sensors provide precise position feedback in hot, pressurized, and vibrating industrial environments. Key technical parameters include range, nonlinearity, repeatability, resolution, hysteresis, operating temperature, temperature coefficient, output signal, supply voltage, protection class, and pressure rating.
The measuring range commonly covers 50 mm to 5000 mm, with custom lengths available. Nonlinearity is often <=0.05% FS, and repeatability can reach <=0.001% FS. Resolution may be 0.001 mm or better, while hysteresis is typically <=0.002% FS. These values support reliable closed-loop control.
For high-temperature models, the operating range may be -40 C to +200 C, or up to +250 C with special materials and cooling. The temperature coefficient is usually <=0.001% FS/C. The waveguide, electronics, seals, and cables must resist thermal expansion, aging, and contamination. Output options include 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, RS485, CANbus, SSI, and Modbus. Supply voltage is often 24 VDC, with 12-36 VDC versions available.
Mechanical parameters include a stainless steel housing, IP65 or IP67 protection, pressure resistance up to 35 MPa, and vibration resistance from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz. The sensor must maintain linearity, repeatability, and low drift under temperature changes. Proper installation, stable power, and shielding improve signal quality. Typical applications include hydraulic cylinders, injection molding machines, steel mills, and power plants.
