Flange-mounted magnetostrictive displacement sensors provide accurate, reliable linear position measurement in harsh industrial environments. Their flange design enables fast, secure installation on cylinders, machines, and test rigs. The magnetostrictive principle offers high resolution, excellent repeatability, and long-term stability. A non-contact position magnet minimizes wear and extends service life. They are widely used where space is limited and measurement must remain stable under vibration, shock, and temperature changes.

The sensor sends a current pulse along a waveguide. When the pulse meets the position magnet's field, a strain wave is generated. The time between the pulse and the returning wave is measured and converted into an absolute position value. This method needs no re-zeroing after power loss.

Common outputs include 0-10 V, 4-20 mA, SSI, CANopen, and Profibus. Measuring ranges cover 50 mm to several meters, with linearity up to ±0.05% FS. Stainless-steel housings and high IP ratings suit hydraulic cylinders, injection molding machines, steel mills, wind turbines, and packaging equipment.

Flange mounting offers simple alignment, strong connection, and easy replacement. Keep the magnet centered, avoid strong magnetic fields, and follow torque and sealing requirements. With rugged construction and precise feedback, these sensors improve process control, reduce downtime, and support dependable automation. The flange also simplifies maintenance and replacement.
