A waterproof magnetostrictive displacement sensor is a precision linear position device designed to survive moisture, washdowns, dust, and harsh industrial conditions. It combines magnetostrictive measurement with a sealed, rugged housing. A movable magnet creates a torsional strain pulse in a waveguide. The sensor measures the time between the interrogation pulse and the returned strain pulse. This time is converted into an accurate absolute position output.
The waterproof design includes a stainless steel or anodized aluminum body, laser-welded joints, sealed connectors, and IP67 or IP68 protection. These features prevent water ingress and corrosion, so the sensor keeps stable performance in hydraulic cylinders, offshore equipment, food processing lines, and mobile machinery.

Compared with linear sensors, a waterproof magnetostrictive displacement sensor offers high accuracy, long stroke range, non-contact sensing, and excellent repeatability. Because the magnet does not touch the waveguide, wear is minimal. The sensor can output analog voltage, current, SSI, CANbus, or Modbus signals for easy integration.
When selecting a model, consider stroke length, pressure rating, output type, connector style, temperature range, and protection class. Proper installation and regular inspection of seals and cables further extend service life. For wet, dusty, or high-vibration environments, a waterproof magnetostrictive displacement sensor is a reliable choice for precise position feedback.
