High-pressure magnetostrictive displacement sensors provide precise position feedback for overhead crane hydraulic and mechanical systems. Key technical parameters include pressure rating, measuring range, accuracy, output signal, supply voltage, protection class, and environmental performance.
Typical pressure ratings are 25-70 MPa, with higher peak options. Measuring ranges cover 50-3000 mm. Linearity is often 0.05% FS, repeatability 0.01% FS, and resolution up to 1 um. Outputs include 4-20 mA, 0-10 V, SSI, CANopen, Profibus, and Modbus for PLC integration. Supply voltage is usually 24 VDC (18-36 VDC). Stainless steel housings and sealed pressure rods suit high-pressure use. Protection is at least IP67; IP68/IP69K is available. Operating temperature is -40 to +85 C, with high-temperature versions. Shock, vibration, EMC, reverse polarity, and short-circuit protection must match crane duty. CE, RoHS, and explosion-proof options may be required.
For overhead cranes, correct alignment, low side load, proper torque, and good grounding are essential. Inspect seals, connectors, and cables regularly. Correctly specified sensors improve positioning accuracy, reduce downtime, and support safe crane operation.
Choose cable length and connector type to suit site wiring and maintenance. For washdown or dusty areas, select IP68/IP69K and corrosion-resistant materials. Verify EMC and surge protection for stable signals. Follow the manufacturer's torque and grounding instructions. Use low side load.
