Magnetostrictive displacement sensors are popular in industrial automation because they offer high accuracy, long life, and stable performance. But many buyers ask: what determines the magnetostrictive displacement sensor price? The answer depends on several technical and commercial factors.

First, measuring range matters. Short-stroke models may cost $100 to $300, while longer strokes, such as 1000 mm or more, often reach $500 to $1,500. Second, accuracy and repeatability influence price. Sensors with 0.01 mm or better accuracy usually cost more than standard 0.05 mm units.

Output signal also affects cost. Analog outputs like 4-20 mA or 0-10 V are common. Digital outputs such as SSI, CANopen, Profibus, or EtherCAT add electronics and raise the price. Housing material, IP rating, pressure resistance, and working temperature are important too. Stainless steel, IP67 or IP68, and high-temperature designs cost more than standard models.

Brand and certification can create large differences. Well-known brands charge a premium for reliability, support, and warranty. Unbranded or OEM sensors may be cheaper, but buyers should check calibration, EMC, and quality control. Order quantity also matters: bulk orders usually receive discounts.

Typical market prices are roughly:

- Low-cost short-stroke: $80-$300

- Standard industrial: $300-$800

- High-precision/long-stroke: $800-$2,000+

- Specialized harsh-environment: $1,500-$3,000+
