Correct installation is essential for reliable performance of a flange-mounted turbine flowmeter. Before mounting, verify the meter size, pressure rating, flange standard, and flow direction. Inspect the pipe and meter for damage, and confirm that the pipeline is depressurized, drained, and clean. The meter should be installed on a straight pipe section with sufficient upstream and downstream lengths, usually at least 10D upstream and 5D downstream, unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise.
Align the flanges carefully. Place the meter between the pipeline flanges with a suitable gasket on each side. The flow arrow on the meter body must point in the actual flow direction. Insert bolts symmetrically and tighten them diagonally in stages to ensure even gasket compression and avoid distortion. Support the pipeline near the meter so that the flowmeter does not carry external loads or vibration.
For horizontal pipelines, the meter can be mounted with the register facing upward or sideways for easy reading. For vertical pipelines, upward flow is preferred. Keep the meter full of liquid and avoid installation at the highest point where air may collect. Provide enough clearance for maintenance and ensure the cable entry is protected from water.

Ground the meter and pipeline according to local regulations. Connect the signal and power cables using the wiring diagram, keeping them away from strong electrical noise. After installation, slowly open the valves to fill the pipeline and remove air. Check for leaks, verify zero flow if applicable, and confirm that the output signal responds correctly. Record the installation data and perform regular inspection to maintain accurate measurement.
